National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) today announced a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 1.58 crore in the 2008-09 fiscal as compared to a net loss of Rs 2.39 crore in a year-ago period.
The turnover from sales increased by 55.53 per cent to Rs 857 crore from Rs 551 crore during the review period, it said.
"The business of export has tremendously increased, which helped the Federation in a big way for generation of revenue," NCCF Managing Director R K Srivastava said at its 43rd Annual General Meeting today.
The Federation has exported 2.67 lakh tonnes of onion valuing Rs 365.11 crore through Associate Shippers in the last fiscal, he said.
He further said that NCCF currently has a debt of Rs 1.53 crore and hopes to clear all its dues in 2009-10.
NCCF, an apex body of the consumer cooperatives in the country, has diversified its business to new lines such as undertaking housing projects, agri-related infrastructure projects, supply of agri-inputs and medi-tourism.
