In the Hindi general entertainment segment, NDTV Imagine entered the chart for the first time at seventh place, as per publicly available Television Audience Measurement Media Research data for the week to January 26.
 
The new channel from the NDTV stable grabbed market share from Zee Entertainment Enterprises' flagship channel Zee TV and Star TV's Star Plus.
 
The week to January 26 was a good one for NDTV channels with the English news channel returning to the top of the charts in that segment, and as NDTV India was the only Hindi news channel among the top five to gain market share in the week.
 
Among new Hindi entertainment shows launched, a large number from NDTV Imagine caught the audience's attention, while Star TV's Raja Ki Aayegi Baarat got the best response.
 
General entertainment
In the week to January 26, both Zee TV and Star Plus lost market share in Hindi general entertainment segment as NDTV Imagine, NDTV's new entertainment channel, made an entry at seventh place with 5.4 per cent market share. NDTV Imagine was officially launched January 21.
 
In its first week, the channel surpassed INX Media channel 9X's 3.7 per cent share.
 
Zee Next, which was launched December, was in 11th place with 1.3 per cent market share. Zee TV shed market share of 260 basis points to stand at 25.3 per cent share for the week, while Star Plus lost 180 basis points to end the week to January 26 at 31.5 per cent.
 
News channels
In the English news segment, NDTV 24X7 jumped 330 basis points to get back to the top spot from third place in the previous week, with 32.1 per cent market share in the week to January 26.
 
However, the channel's average share for the previous four weeks dropped to 29.4 per cent. The tightly contested second spot was secured by Times Now, which beat Network 18-owned Global Broadcast News' CNN-IBN by 10 basis points, with viewership of 27.5 per cent for the week.
 
In the Hindi news segment, TV Today's Aaj Tak continued to reign supreme, widening the gap between itself and the second-placed Star News by 180 basis points.
 
Aaj Tak had 19.3 per cent market share, up 90 basis points in the week to January 26, while Star News dropped 90 basis, to 17 per cent.
 
Zee News was in fourth position, tailing India TV at third. GBN's IBN 7 was sixth.
