Neo Sports plans multilingual feeds

Neo Sports, a 24-hour cricket-centric TV channel from Nimbus Communications, plans to provide multilingual feeds for international and domestic matches soon.
 
The channel, which has bagged telecasting rights of 72 per cent of all confirmed international cricketing events featuring India till March 2010, will come out with cricket commentary in regional languages such as Tamil, Kannada and Telugu.
 
"It is our intention to build unprecedented depth and width of involvement with cricket fans all round the year by covering both domestic and international matches. We have partnered with the Board of Control for Cricket in India to reenergise domestic cricket," said Shashi Kalathil, CEO, on Tuesday.
 
The channel has tied up with Star India to ensure speedy connectivity build up for the channel.
 
"It will be available on cable, internet and direct-to-home (DTH). In 2007, Indo-Lanka series and Afro-Asia cup will be telecasted," he added.
 
MTV, Travelguru tie up for holiday package: Multimedia youth platform, MTV announced the launch of MTV Backpack Holidays, a co-branded initiative with travel portal, Travelguru.
 
With packages available across Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore will ranging from Rs.800 for day trips to Rs 10,000 for longer adventure trips that include more complex activities such as skiing, each holiday includes accommodation, meals, transportation and adventure activity supervised by specialists.
 
"The launch is in line with our broad strategy of playing a part in lives of youngsters across various interests and needs outside of the television.
 
We're happy to join hands with Travelguru, India's leading aggregator of hotels and vacations, to bring you some of the coolest adventure holidays across the country," said Sandeep Dahiya, director, consumer products, MTV Networks India.
 
Apart from the usual outdoor activities such as bonfires, catamaran rides, tent pitching and barbeques, MTV Backpack Holidays will also offer fire-walking, rock climbing, skiing and kayaking.
 
"Travelguru believes that today's youth is very clear that they want to make their own choices. This alliance is in line with our strategy to reach out to today's youth and offer them our unmatched range of customised holiday products," said Devyani Nagpal, chief marketing officer of Travelguru.
 
"We believe that MTV is the perfect choice as a partner, as we look to address this youth market," he added.
