Netafim Irrigation in talk with state govts for more orders

Netafim Irrigation India, which provides farm sector irrigation solutions, today said it is looking for expansion by setting up a new manufacturing plant in northern part of the country and is in talks with various state governments for more orders.

Netafim India, a subsidiary of Israel-based Netafim, has two manufacturing facilities in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu. It has provided irrigation solutions to over one lakh farmers and has installed drip irrigation solution on four lakh acres under different crops and different climatic conditions since 1997.

"The plant would be in the northern part of the country," Netafim Irrigation India Managing Director Randhir Chauhan said. He declined to divulge details about the capacity of the new plant and the likely investment.

Through the network of 16 offices and 100 dealers, the company provides the pre-sales advisory and after sales technical services.

The company, which has a major presence in Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Maharashtra, said that it would continue to consolidate in these states and then go to Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.

Chauhan said the company is in talks with various state governments for new orders.

"We are talking to a few state governments, including Haryana, Punjab and Karnataka," he said, adding that the company is optimistic about securing the projects.

"We are in touch with them for more than six months. Since it is a policy intervention it takes time," he said.

Netafim India has participated in many mega government projects for agricultural development such as Andhra Pradesh Micro Irrigation Project and Gujarat Green Revolution Project.
