Through this partnership, Netxcell will implement services for MTN, a telecom operator in Africa with GSM licences in 21 countries across Africa and West Asia, leveraging the local know-how of Funmobile.
In a press release on Wednesday, Netxcell said it would provide technology solutions like IVR (interactive voice response)-based services –– voice chat and information and subscription dialers –– in Nigeria, an additional geography for the company in the fast-growing African market along with their current present in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ethiopia, Sudan and Burundi.

According to Nigeria Telecommunications’ report, in Nigeria alone the mobile market grew 18.51 per cent in 2012, of which 5.6 per cent growth was registered in the fourth quarter only. And, 10 per cent of the total subscriber base in Nigeria currently accounts for 3G, according to the Wireless Intelligence report titled Global Cellular Market Trends and Insight.
Under the tie-up, while Netxcell will be responsible for driving the products from registration phase, profile maintenance, filtration, connectivity (with Funmobile and MTN), usage, promotions and billing, Funmobile will start offering voice chat with Netxcell’s support and with its local know-how and expertise to handle day-to-day operations.
