Pramod Deo, who was appointed as the new chief of the electricity regulator, is set to take office soon. "The new chairman is going to join the office in the first week of June," said a senior official of the company.
Deo, chairman of Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Authority and a Maharashtra cadre IAS officer was selected by the government last month for the post.
The minister of state for power, Jairam Ramesh had said on April 9 that Deo's appointment has been cleared by the government.
The post of the chairman of the central regulatory body for the country's power sector had been vacant for about an year, this at a time when the country is in the midst of its most ambitious capacity addition plan
