New Holland Fiat India Pvt Ltd is ramping up its tractor manufacturing capacity at its Greater Noida facility with an investment of around $45 million (around Rs 221 crore).
“We have a capacity of around 36,000 tractor units per annum and are expanding it to 60,000 units per annum by 2013. Work on the expansion already started in March and we expect to spend around $45 million on this,” said Rakesh Malhotra, managing director, New Holland Fiat (India) Pvt Ltd. The Greater Noida plant commenced operations in 1998.
It is also searching for a location to set up a manufacturing plant for its sugarcane harvester products. An assembling plant for the product line was launched in Pune, Maharashtra, almost three months ago. It has already sold 160 products in the segment and is planning to sell 250 machines in the near future.
