Imaging technology giant Nikon today said it was targeting 1,800 retail outlets for in-store branding in India.
"Nikon is targeting 1,800 retail outlets for in-store branding along with the plan to hire 200 as store promoters in the current financial year. The company has already set up more than fifty D-SLR and COOLPIX zone in India," Nikon India Managing Director Hiroshi Takashina said.
Takashina, who launched Northeast's second Nikon outlet in Shillong today, said the outlets, dubbed as COOLPIX Zone, would provide both professionals and enthusiasts to experience compact as well as D-SLR cameras along with other accessories and expert guidance, technical know-how under one roof.
Last fiscal, the company had 13 per cent market share in India with respect to compact cameras, while having 45 per cent share in D-SLR versions.
"This year we intend to increase it to 15 per cent and 50 per cent respectively," the MD said.
However, compared to its global turnover, India just accounted for roughly 1 per cent of the business.
"We hope to take this figure to 5 per cent in the next three years," Takashina added.
