Nissan appoints Guillaume Sicard Deputy President for India

Japanese auto major Nissan today appointed Guillaume Sicard as Deputy President of its Indian operations with effect from July 1.

Sicard will report to Nissan India Operations President Kenichiro Yomura and will be responsible for accelerating strategic decision-making and streamlining operational efficiency to help achieve the company's objectives, Nissan Motor India said in a statement.

"This appointment supports the recently announced changes to our India operations and will enable us to continue delivering strong results and growth towards achievement of the Nissan Power 88 mid-term plan," Yomura said.

Sicard currently serves as Chief Operating Officer - Renault Turkey (MAIS). He joined Renault in 1992 and has held several leadership positions in sales and marketing with increasing responsibilities in France, Spain and South Africa.

In another development, Nissan India opened its sales and marketing headquarters in Mumbai.

Out of the current 200-strong Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd workforce, initially 50 staff will be based in Mumbai creating a hub for all sales, marketing and dealer management activities, the company said.

"The Mumbai workforce is expected to rise to around 150 employees by the end of the year," it added.

Yomura said the company has implemented significant improvements to its business structure in India.

"As a result, Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd has assumed full responsibility for the sales, marketing and distribution of all Nissan and Datsun-branded vehicles and parts in India. The inauguration of our sales and marketing headquarters in Mumbai is a key step to help expand our reach and visibility to our customers in this very important growth market," he added.

The Chennai office will continue to be the nodal hub for Nissan Group operations in India as it is located close to its manufacturing and R&D centres, Yomura said.
