Mumbai-based Nissan Copper Ltd. plans to set up a greenfield plant of 12,000 metric tones per annum, near its existing manufacturing facility at Silvasa.

The company created Rs 200-crore warchest for the same.

The company plans to fund the process through mix of debt and equity. The new plant will manufacture inner groove copper tubes as well as LWC coils and is expected to start its trial productions in January 2010.

"Presently, inner groove copper tubes are not being manufactured in India and the margins from this product are expected to be high. There is a huge demand in domestic market and it has a high export potential in European countries and US," said Ratanlal Maradia, managing director, Nissan Copper Ltd.
