Nissan Group of India and SkodaAuto today announced a price increase across their vehicle range to be effective from January.

The raise, which follows similar increases announced by Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, General Motors, is done by the two companies to minimize the impact of escalating input costs, both companies said in separate statements.

While Nissan price rise also includes increases in the Datsun range which will be upto three per cent, SkodaAuto said its increase will vary from 2 per cent to 3 per cent across the entire product portfolio.

Arun Malhotra, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India said, "The price increase is to offset the rising input costs. The revision of prices will soften the negative impact and help the company stay competitive."

Prices of Micra, Micra Active, Sunny, Terrano and Evalia sold under the Nissan badge and that of Go and Go+ sold under Datsun will see the increase.

"The new prices effective from January 1st 2016, are in line with increasing input cost and changing market conditions", sad a statement from SkodaAuto.

Skoda's price increase will translate into an increase of around Rs 14,000-50,000 depending on the model and the variant.
