NMCE board appoints Krishna Sahni as new chairman

Sahni has been secretary to government of India, ministry of labour & employment from 2004 to 2006

The board of National Multi-Commodity Exchange of India Ltd (NMCE) has appointed retired IAS officer of 1969 batch, Krishna Mohan Sahni as its new Chairman, following an approval by the Forward Markets Commission (FMC).

Apart from several senior positions in the Government of India, Sahni has held the position of the Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Labour & Employment, from the year 2004 to December 31, 2006 when he superannuated.

Joining Sahni in the NMCE board are other independent directors including Pravin K Laheri, retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary of Government of Gujarat, and former chairman of Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and retired IAS officer Sudhir Mankad.

Other eminent independent directors who have joined NMCE Board include retired Indian Economic Service (IES) officer of 1970 batch Paul Joseph who retired in 2008 as Principal Advisor to Planning Commission, Government of India, along with former Chairman of Steel Authority of India (Sail) V S Jain.
