National Multi Commodity Exchange of India (NMCE) and Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) has announced two additional delivery centers in Kerala with a storage capacity of 14000 tonnes.

These warehouses which are located near Ernakulam and Kozhikode will add the storage capacity of 12250 tonnes and 1890 tonnes respectively. The additional storage will remove the adversities of storage space faced by rubber industry, NMCE said in a release. The total storage space available for rubber in various districts of Kerala so far was 13000 tonnes which is now raised by another 14140 tonnes making it a total of 27140 tonnes in Kerala.

BB Pattnaik, MD, CWC and chairman, NMCE said, "It was felt that the small farmers with small quantities of rubber transport rubber to godowns in distant places far from Cochin. Hence hiring of extra storage space was badly required and this was what was done by CWC at short notice. NMCE and CWC had risen to such occasions to accommodate rubber stock."
