National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) has found four prospective partners to develop new coal blocks in the country. Adani Power, KSK Power, Monnet Ispat and Sophia Power have responded positively to an expression of interest floated by the NMDC recently.
"Responding to our expression of interest, the companies recently gave their presentations for jointly developing new coal properties," NMDC Chairman and Managing Director Rana Som informed the media today.
Som, however, said the company has not yet decided if it will take multiple or single partner for the proposed joint venture. “It would depend on allotment of fresh coal blocks,” he said.
NMDC has two thermal coal blocks in Madhya Pradesh and is expecting one more in West Bengal. It has also applied for mining leases of five new coal blocks in Chhattisgarh and a few others in Jharkhand.
