Permanent workers at a Nokia Siemens factory near here are on an indefinite strike from on Monday afternoon. They are protesting against a management decision to dismiss 52 employees on April 4 without any notice and proper reason.
E Muthukumar, president of the Nokia Siemens Networks India Employees Association, said the company also initiated inquiry against these employees.
“Production operations at the Oragadam facility are running normally and no employee was terminated. We have offered our colleagues an opportunity to have an open dialogue to understand the employees’ concerns in a manner that is mutually conducive and rational in approach,” Satendra Singh, head of manufacturing operations for India, Nokia Siemens Networks, said.
