Axill Europe, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hyderabad-based technology, e-commerce and online advertisement solutions provider Northgate Technologies, has acquired Reuter's London-based high-end data centre infrastructure with over 8,000 sft area for an undisclosed sum.
There is a huge shortage of space and power to meet data centre demand with no new data centres being built in central London because of power diversion to the Olympic site and London Cross Rail. The acquisition will help Northgate bridge the gap for additional data centre requirements as Axill Europe has a waiting list for clients requiring additional space and power, Northgate stated in a press release on Wednesday.
Northgate currently has two server farms based in London and Hong Kong, powering its websites www.ziddu.com (world ranking 179), bharatstudent.com (world ranking 475), globle7.com (world ranking 1,074) and egglad.com (world ranking 4,000).
The data centre infrastructure acquired by the Northgate arm consists of data connectivity, power backup, air-conditioner, chiller etc, which can be used to set up server farms with minimum lease of 10 years with available power, the release added.
