Novartis India Q2 net up 6% to Rs 43 cr

Drug firm Novartis India today reported 6.45% increase in its net profit to Rs 43.18 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 over the same period previous fiscal.

The company had posted a net profit of Rs 40.56 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2010, Novartis India said in a filing to BSE.

Net sales of the company for the quarter ended September 30, 2011 stood at Rs 206.76 crore as against Rs 184.91 crore for the corresponding period last fiscal, it added.

Net profit of the company for the half year ended September 30, 2011 rose to Rs 80.75 crore from Rs 72.09 crore for the same period last fiscal, Novartis India said.

Pharmaceuticals continued to be the main driver for the company, it added.

Shares of Novartis India were trading at Rs 836 per scrip in late afternoon trade on BSE, up 1.11% from its previous close.
