While Pullman is being planned in the capital city of Gandhinagar, Accor Group is still in talks with potential developers for Grand Mercure. "Construction for Pullman is yet to begin in Gandhinagar. We are contemplating another brand Grand Mercure in Gujarat and talks are still on for that. We will make further announcement on Grand Mercure probably by next year," said Jean-Michel Casse, Senior Vice President, Operations, Accor India, while refusing to divulge investment and locations details on the development.
Even as the group has committed over $200 million for India, it currently has 23 hotels in the country even as it plans to add two more by the year end and 10 more by next year. "The opening of Novotel Ahmedabad reinforces our focus on India as a key market for development in the upscale segment. Our expansion plans for Novotel in this region are ambitious and we are confident about generating new markets and new segments in India with our existing portfolio of Novotel hotels. The Novotel Ahmedabad will deliver globally-renowned contemporary accommodation along with high-end services and facilities, raising the bar for business destinations in the city," said Casse.
