Industrialist Mukesh Ambani today met top government officials, a day after younger brother Anil Ambani moved about in the corridors of power, and coming as it did two days after the Supreme Court notices to the two groups on cross-appeals against a High Court order on gas dispute.

Mukesh is believed to have met Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Law Minister Veerappa Moily, among others. His younger brother Anil had yesterday met with Petroleum, Fertiliser and Finance secretaries.

No comments could be obtained from RIL spokesperson about today's meetings.

Anil Ambani group's RNRL and Mukesh-led RIL have filed cross-petitions in Supreme Court against the Bombay High Court's ruling of June 15 that said RNRL should get gas from RIL at $2.34 per million British thermal unit, a price that is 44 per cent less than that fixed by the government.

The High Court had also asked the two sides to work out an agreement based on their family settlement.

After the ruling, Fertiliser Ministry had expressed concern over fate of about 15 mmscmd of gas allocated to urea units.

"Today I have raised the issue for fertiliser, tomorrow the power (sector) may raise it and the steel sector may rake it up as well because they are also undergoing the same situation. So as a consumer we say our supply should remain in tact," Fertiliser Secretary Atul Chaturvedi said earlier in the day.
