At least 30 herbal and biotech drugs developed by various research institutes are ready for transfer to the industry for upscaling or commercialisation.
The technologies for these products will be transferred by the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), a company for translating research and development (R&D) results into marketable industrial products, processes and services.
Of these, 11 herbal drugs have been developed by the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda and Sidha (CCRAS), an autonomous body of the ministry of health and family welfare.

These include drugs for epilepsy, malaria and obesity among others. According to NRDC officials, clinical trials of the anti-epilepsy drug have proved that it is extremely effective in controlling fits without causing any side effects. It also helps in improving the memory and the concentration power of the patient.
