The indefinite strike by National Textile Corporation (NTC) mills workers on Diwali-bonus issue entered the sixth day today, even as trade union leaders were hopeful of 'some announcement' from NTC headquarters or textile ministry.
Over 5,000 workers began their strike on October 13 to protest "failure" of the management of seven NTC mills to pay bonus on the basis of total earnings of a worker in a year.
The NTC, however, claims these mills were not making profits.
Joint Action Council of textile trade union was scheduled to meet this afternoon to decide future course of action, in anticipation of 'announcement' from Delhi over the issue.
Since there was no word either from NTC headquarters or Textile ministry, the meeting has not taken place so far, council sources said.
