State-run NTPC today said it will invest Rs 6,000 crore in super thermal power projects in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Chattisgarh.
"NTPC board has approved Rs 6,037 crore investment for its Super Thermal Power Projects (STPP) in Madhya Pradesh (Vindhyachal), Uttar Pradesh (Rihand) and Chattisgarh (Korba)," the company informed the Bombay Stock Exchange.
The company's board of directors approved Rs 5,915 crore for 2x500 Mw Vindhyachal STPP. They also okayed investments worth Rs 67.3 crore and Rs 54.5 crore to undertake renovation and modernisation works at 2x500 Mw Rihand STPP and 3x500 Mw Korba STPP, respectively.
NTPC recently tied up with the Power Company of Karnataka to develop a 4,000-Mw super thermal power station at Kudgi in Bijapur district and set up a 500-Mw capacity wind power project in the state.
The 4,000 Mw thermal power plant would be developed in two stages, under Stage-I, there would be three units of 500 Mw each and two units of 800 Mw capacity would be installed in Stage-II.
NTPC closed at Rs 168.15, down 1.58 per cent on the BSE today.
