NTPC, the country's largest power producer, is hoping that its bulk order placement of equipment for nine 660 Mw thermal power units would find a place in the government's 100 days agenda.
"All the documents are ready, we are waiting for the government's clearance and then we will go ahead. I am sure that this will be under government's 100 days' agenda and it would be the priority area," NTPC CMD R S Sharma told reporter.
NTPC as well as Damodar Vally Corporation (DVC) have already received the techno-economic clearance to buy Rs 21,000 crore power equipment for their upcoming thermal power generation plants from the techno-economic clearance body Central Electricity Authority (CEA).
The power equipment would be procured through the 'International Competitive Bidding' (ICB) route. Having a manufacturing base in India, would be a prerequisite for bidding for the order.
BHEL is expected to clinch almost 50 per cent orders from this major contract. It would supply equipment for 5-6 power generation units (of 660 Mw each). The state-run company would be given preference over other bidders, provided it matches the L-1 (lowest) bid.
