NTPC plant gate locked by oustees

No TTPS employee could make enter the premises till the strike was called off in the afternoon following intervention by local administration. However, sources said, power generation in the plant has not been hampered due to the blockade.

About 78 ITI trained substantially affected persons of the power plant owned by NTPC are aggrieved that the plant authorities did not consider their job demand despite several appeals and stirs in the past. They pointed out that they had been sent for ITI training two years ago by NTPC authorities with the assurance of being absorbed in the plant on completion of their training.

However, after the ITI training, they are yet to be offered jobs by the power major.

Earlier these ITI trained youths belonging to land oustee families sat on a dharna in front of the plant gate for several days .The Ex-MP and BJD state general secretary Rabi Narayan Pany had shot off a letter to NTPC authorities demanding their appointment in the plant at least on contractual basis.

Local NTPC authorities maintained that "it is the NTPC head office who can take decision in this regard".
