NTPC profit declines 16% but power output grows

For Q2 FY15, the unaudited profit after tax was Rs 2,071.63 cr as against Rs 2,492.90 cr for the corresponding quarter in the previous year

NTPC, the country's largest thermal power producer, witnessed a growth in the gross generation for the first half of 2014-15 to 118.5 billion units while the profit declined by 16 per cent for Q2FY15 owing to changes in rate regulations.

For Q2 FY15, the unaudited profit after tax was Rs 2,071.63 crore as against Rs 2,492.90 crore for the corresponding quarter in the previous year.

For the September quarter of FY15, the gross generation was 55.421 billion units against 54.519 billion units in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. Registering a rise of eight per cent, the unaudited total income for the first half of 2014-15 was Rs 36,136.6 crore against Rs 33,451 crore a year ago.

For Q2 FY15, the unaudited total income was Rs 17,267 crore against Rs 17,076 crore a year ago, an increase of one per cent.
