National Thermal Power Corporation's new 500 Mw unit-VII of Korba project started its commercial production on Monday.
"The commercial operation declaration (COD) of the 500 Mw unit-VII of NTPC's Korba project has been achieved on 21 March," company's spokesperson Ashutosh Nayak said in a statement, issued on Tuesday. With this, the company has started its commercial operation, he added.
The unit achieved full load on 26 December, last year, within record one month time from the date of synchronization.
With the new 500 Mw unit, total installation capacity of NTPC's Korba project has now reached to 2600 Mw.n addition to the new unit, the 2600 Mw Korba project has three units of 200 Mw each in Stage-I and three units of 500 Mw each in Stage-II.
