Mumbai based IT business solutions provider company Alphabetics Computer Services Pvt. Ltd has forayed into e-learning sector and has launched a tablet PC 'TabGuru' for the students in Pune on Tuesday.
The content of this tablet would be a mix of both animation and video format for both English and regional schools across SSC, ICSE and CBSC Boards.
The company is targeting to sell over 2,5 lakh tablets in the next one year.
Commenting on this, Pankaj Kurulkar, CMD, Alphabetics Computer Services Pvt. Ltd. said, “There are many good e-learning contents available for ICSE and CBSE boards but lack of investment in computer and low Internet penetration in India has resulted in not reaching it the masses. With this launch we are confident of offering an innovative way of delivering content to our target consumers. This will help us creating a niche for ourselves and create a new benchmark for the industry.”
Every tablet PC will be pre-loaded with one standard’s curriculum at a time and is valid for one educational year. After completion of the tenure, the content is automatically disabled. One can reload the content only for next educational year through our service distributors. The company is opening over 5000 touch points for the distribution of this device. The price ranges from Rs 5,999 to Rs 11, 999.
It is also planning to develop the curriculum in 30 languages. It has launched this in Oman and later in other parts of the world.

Kurulkar added, "Education sector is growing very rapidly in India and e-learning should reach up to the masses. Now it is only restricted to urban areas and with Tab Guru, our effort is to make it available in rural markets as well."
TabGuru is available in 7” & 10” with a screen resolution of 800x480 pixels and 1024x600 pixels respectively and runs on Android 4.0.3 operating system software.
