Okaya plans Rs 50 cr manufacturing plant in India

Global battery and inverter major Okaya Power is planning to set up a manufacturing plant in India with an investment of Rs 50 crore.     

The 8.4 lakh annual capacity Sealed Maintenance Free (SMF) batteries plant would be set up in Himachal Pradesh and is expected to begin commercial production by November this year, Okaya said in a statement.     

"The plant would produce SMF batteries for industrial and domestic utilities and have products for all segments including telecom, railways, UPS, inverters, photovoltaic, electric vehicle and so on," the company said.     

The company sells its products in the market under the brand name of Okaya Japanese Batteries.     

Okaya's SMF batteries are currently available in the Indian market in the 12V 7.2AH to 12V 200AH range.     

"The Okaya SMF plant will be equipped with latest and most advanced sophisticated equipments imported from various countries around the world, which are run by highly qualified and experienced team of professionals...," it added.
