Prior to Ola, Sarup was working as Managing Director of Microsoft in India. He has worked across companies like Nokia, Yum! Brands (Pizza Hut) and Procter & Gamble and comes with an experience of more than 20 years, a Ola statement said.
"He has worked with globally respected businesses and brings valuable experience that will help Ola resonate as the choice of mobility, for a billion people. I look forward to working with Raghuvesh as we continue to build Ola as the preferred mobility brand for every Indian," said Bhavish Aggarwal, co-founder and chief executive officer of Ola.
Ola, which competes with global major Uber in India, is present across 102 cities and is set to strengthen its play in the country through a lot of strategic changes. Last week, it had introduced Ola Corporate to woo enterprises where the latter can have prepaid corporate accounts for its employees. It claims over 400,000 drivers on its platform and plans to expand it to a million in a year.
"Ola's mission of building mobility for a billion Indians is very inspiring and I consider it a privilege to be building this brand and its core categories further in the time to come," said Sarup in a statement.
