“The growing demand for convenient and reliable city transport was the first thing we noted when we launched our services in Pune. With very few public and personal transportation options, we see Olacabs becoming a full-fledged customer utility for the city. While our mobile app and seamless technology shall enable customers to have a high quality experience end-to-end, our in-cab GPS technology will enable safe, transparent and reliable rides,” said Anand Subramanian, head – marketing and communications, Olacabs.
The company is also building an ecosystem of car owners partnering with Ola and also promoting driver entrepreneurs by supporting them financially and by providing technology platform. "Our target is to take our cab fleet to 500 by the end of this calendar year and create atleast 300 taxi entrepreneurs," he added.
In order to help drivers buy their own cars and join the Ola ecosystem, the company is organizing a ‘Driver Mela’ in the third week of January. Drivers with existing cars can get their cab evaluated at this event and get it exchanged with a new one, through the financiers associated with Olacabs. Drivers who intend to buy new or additional cars can also do so.
For this year, Olacabs has a target of entering into 10 cities, five of these are in tier II cities.
