Both the companies jointly organised ‘Driver Mela’, for the drivers in Pune to attract the opportunities in the cab space. The initiative saw participation from 530 drivers from the city. With this, drivers with existing cars can get their cab evaluated at this event and get it exchanged with a new one, through the financiers associated with Olacabs. Over 127 drivers were eligible for a loan from financial partners at the venue. “The company is also building an ecosystem of car owners partnering with Ola and also promoting driver entrepreneurs by supporting them financially and by providing technology platform. We came up with the idea of ‘Driver Mela’ in line with Ola’s vision of nurturing micro-entrepreneurship. We believe that there are many people who are keen to join a transparent and robust platform like Ola and be independent,” said Anand Subramanian, head - marketing communications, Olacabs. Ola’s 30% business comes from mobile application, 20% from call centre and 10% from car rental services.
