The Oil and Natural Gas Company (ONGC) recently announced 417 engineering and geo-sciences vacancies. Through the recruitment drive, the energy major invites application from interested candidates who have successfully cleared GATE-2016 examination. The candidates will be appointed as Graduate Trainees (GTs) at E-1 level in Engineering & Geo-Sciences posts. The application process has already started and the last date to apply is August 10, 2016.
The advertisement/notification clearly mentions that only the GATE – 2016 examination score will be valid for the recruitment. The results of any other examination, even GATE – 2015, will not be considered. Candidates will be shortlisted on basis of their GATE 2016 and personal interview scores.
Eligibility criteria
ONGC has invited application for varied posts including Assistant Executive Engineer, Chemist, Geologist, Geophysicist, Materials Management Officer, Programming Officer and Transport Officer posts. The educational qualifications vary for different posts advertised.
Age limit for general candidates is 30 years as on January 01, 2016. Age relaxation for ST, SC, OBC, physically disable candidates are as per the Government rules. Age relaxation will be extended to departmental candidates to the extent of their service rendered in ONGC

The GATE-2016 score in the subject mentioned against the posts of ONGC will be considered for shortlisting the candidates for the process of personal interview. The final merit list shall be prepared based on the weightages assigned to various parameters as follows:
1. The weightage of the GATE – 2016 score is 60 marks.
2. The interview process will carry 15 marks.
3. Essential qualification will be for 20 marks and five marks will be for additional in-line higher qualification.
In case the total marks for final selection are same then candidate who gets more marks in performance (Weightage of GATE-2016 Score + Interview) is considered senior, and if equal marks are scored in performance than the one older in age is considered senior for release of name. According to the advertisement, departmental candidates shall be given first consideration in matters of selection, while other things such as qualification, eligibility and selection criteria etc. remain the same.
Application process
Candidates have to apply through ongcindia.com. ONGC has issued strict instructions that no other mode of application, whether through any other website of through offline mode will be entertained. There is no registration fees.
Before applying, candidates need to keep ready their GATE – 2016 registration ID and application ID. Candidates should have a valid mobile number, valid email ID, a scanned photograph and a scan of the candidate’s signature (not more than 70 kb, jpg or jpeg format only).

5. Read all the instructions carefully
6. Enter the details
7. Generate an OTP number while entering the data for online application
8. Enter the OTP sent on the registered number
9. Agree to the declaration and Submit the application
10. A registration slip will be generated on successful registration
11. Take a printout of this registration slip for future use
If a candidate has entered the wrong email id/address/date of birth/phone number or any other details, he/she can enter your details again by using the same GATE-2016 registration number but with different E-mail ID. The most recent application with same registration number will be taken into consideration.
