The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has temporarily suspended its operations at its Tatipaka oil refinery plant, located at Konaseema region in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh, following flooding in the river Godavari. |
The oil refinery has been inundated with four-feet flood water due to breaching on several bunds of Gowthami, Vashista and Vynatheya, which are branches of Godavari river. |
Owing to the breaching of bunds, several roads in the Konaseema area too have been affected. |
"The four-feet inundation of the refinery is not the only valid reason for the temporary closure of Tatipaka oil refinery plant, ONGC sources said. |
"The companies which are utilising the services of the refinery have no access to road as road transportation too has been affected," they added. |
According to the sources, more manpower had been deployed to alert the situation in the plant. |
Sources said The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation would not incur any loss by suspending operations at the oil refinery plant. |
