The latest offering from General Motors India, Opel Swing, the five-door estate version of the Corsa, has sold 200 units within the first three weeks of the car's launch, according to a company release.

The company had set a target of selling 200 units of Swing every month.

Opel Swing is the third offering from GM's stable after the Corsa Royale and Astra Club, which have been successful models in their segments.

"Before launching the Swing we conducted an in-depth consumer research, the results of which indicated a latent need for an estate which sets the consumer apart from the crowd and projects his carefree attitude. The survey marked the genesis of the Opel Swing aimed at addressing that need and the sales figure has now reaffirmed our findings," GM India's vice-president (marketing), Rajeev Chaba, was quoted by the release as saying.

The Swing is claimed to be a highly engineered car with special attention to safety features, passenger comfort, space and design, cost of ownership and ease of driving and parking.

The car has been pitted against the recently launched Altura from Maruti Udyog Ltd, which is the estate version of their top-end Baleno model and Fiat's Siena Weekend.
