Opto Circuits gets FDA nod

These devices monitor blood oxygen, blood pressure and temperature for a quick assessment of vital signs. The approval was received by Opto's wholly-owned subsidiary, Mediaid Inc for the Model 900 and Model 960 bed-side vital sign monitors for marketing in the United States.

This approval by FDA will help Opto Circuits gain entry into the US hospital market. These devices have been designed and developed by the company's R&D unit at Bangalore, the company said in a release.

Vinod Ramnani, CMD, OCI, said, "With the US FDA approval, we have achieved a further milestone in creating key vital sign monitoring products. Receiving approval for these high-end products opens up the US hospital market."

Opto Circuits in the recent past has been aggresively targetting the US healthcare market for its products.

The company for this during fag end of last fiscal acquired an medical equipment firm in the US for around $50 million.
