Hewlett Packard (HP) and Oracle, close global partners for more than 20 years, are pooling resources to take on emerging opportunities in the managed IT services business in financial services and e-government sectors in India.

Addressing a press meet at Oracle OpenWorld Mumbai Balu Doraisamy, managing director, HP India, said: "HP and Oracle have been working closely and successfully, both globally and in India, for over 20 years.

In India we have over hundreds of customers in the financial services, e-governance and manufacturing space. HP sees a huge potential for the partnership to be successful in the financial services and e-governance space, where HPs' adaptive enterprise framework is extremely relevant."

Shekhar Dasgupta, managing director, Oracle India, said : "As IT infrastructures become more and more complex with growing demands from business, they are best managed by the people who build them. HP's Outsourcing services and Oracle's On Demand services can allow customers to do just that. The Bank of India outsourced IT infrastructure project is an example of HP's Outsourcing and Oracle's On Demand teams working closely together."

He added , "We are witnessing increased market opportunities in the FSI and e-government space for such managed services. In the e-government space 'Build-Operate-Own' and 'Build-Operate-Own-Transfer' are gaining acceptance as viable business models with extensive public-private partnerships."
