Orbit to expand bearings capacity at Rajkot plant

Rajkot-based Orbit Bearings India Pvt. Ltd is set to expand its taper and cylindrical roller bearings manufacturing capacity from current 3.5 million to 10 million units per annum. Being executed in order to suffice the company's increasing demands, the capacity will be expanded in phased manner.

Refusing to divulge investment details, Priya Mehta, director of Orbit Bearings said, "We have a current capacity of 3.5 million which we will be expanding to 10 million units per annum. However, the entire expansion process is being conducted in phased manner."

In a bid to boost global outlook of the company, Orbit Bearings also recently announced its new corporate identity. One of the leading manufacturers of taper and cylindrical roller bearings for automotive and industrial applications, Orbit Bearings is one of the first Indian companies to export HUB bearings to various European truck trailer manufacturers.

Expressing his views on rebranding exercise, Vinesh Patel, Managing Director, Orbit Bearings, said, "As we enter the third decade of growth, we made a strategic decision to launch a new logo to reflect the new aims of Orbit which is to provide technologically advanced solutions to our customers along with efficient manufacturing processes. The new logo reflects what the Orbit stands for and that is Optimizing Resources for Best Integration of Technology. We also invest more than five percent of its revenues each year in R&D to identify better ways to combine new systems and processes into their existing structures," Vinesh Patel added.

The company manufactures and supplies to its OEM customers manufacturing trucks, truck trailers, agriculture tractors, transmissions, engines, compressors, and industrial gearboxes. As a process driven technical solutions provider, Orbit has been exporting to OEMs in USA, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Belgium and Brazil since last fifteen years.

Apart from a significant international presence, there is an important domestic base in the form of Indian clients such as Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Eicher Motors, Dana, Escorts, Sonalika, Greaves and Apollo.

The key focus areas of R&D in the company include product design, prototype development, product engineering and testing, material and product technology and application engineering.
