Oriental Insurance to open more biz counters

Oriental Insurance Company would open more business counters across the country to reach out to smaller towns, said its Visakhapatnam region chief regional manager, P S Haranadh.

The business counters would function with one or two staff members and would cater to the general insurance needs of the people from smaller towns.

In the Visakhapatnam region alone, which covers Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam and Nellore districts, Oriental Insurance has opened 11 business counters and would be opening six more in the next two months. The new counters would come up at Amalapuram, Peddapuram, Repalle, Narasaraopet, Mangalagiri and Markapuram.

Haranadh said they had done Rs 125 crore business in the region during 2010-11 against the target of Rs 120 crore. For 2011-12, the region has set a target of Rs 165 crore business in the nine districts, he said, adding they had already achieved Rs 78 crore by September 30.

Earlier, Haranadh inaugurated the extension counter of the company at Nandigama in Krishna district.
