The Orissa government today said that it has canceled the land lease of 41 industries in the designated area of Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa (Idco) located between Bhubaneswar and Khurda.

While show cause notices, asking for explanation as to why the land lease wouldn’t be canceled, have been served on 83 industrial units, five cases are under the consideration of the Estate Court. Besides, seven cases are sub-judice in the civil and High Court.

The government owned Orissa State Financial Corporation (OSFC) has seized one unit and the state government has liquidated two units.

This action has been taken for failure on part of various project proponents to utilise the land for the purpose for which the lease was given, industry minister Raghunath Mohanty said.

Mohanty said, in total 141 units have crossed the moratorium period and action is being taken against them. Idco had acquired 2237.38 acres, out of which 1500.47 acres have been allotted. While 29.81 acres of free land is available with Idco for allotment, the remaining land is under various litigations.

The state government follows a well laid down policy for allotting land to the industrial units planning to set up their units in the industrial estates developed by Idco. It is done as per the recommendation of the District Level Single Window Clearance Authority (DLSWCA) and the nodal agency, he said.

On the other hand, thirty nine industrial units have applied to the government for allotment of land in the industrial estate located between Bhubaneswar and Khurda.
