Orissa signs eight steel MoUs

In a mass signing of MoUs for the steel projects, Orissa government on Wednesday signed pacts with different parties envisaging a combined steel capacity of 2.2 million tonnes at an estimated investment of Rs 2008.70 crore.
 
Most of the parties are smaller industrial houses compared with the mega steel projects proposed by steel majors such as Posco, Tata Steel, Essar and Jindal in the state and the capacities of the plants proposed to be put up by them ranged from 0.25 million tonne to 0.30 million tonne.
 
With the Wednesday's signing in ceremony, the state government has singed a total of 35 MoUs in last one year, envisaging a combined capacity addition of 45.2 million tonnes.
