Page Industries, the publicly held license holder for South Asia for ‘Jockey’ range of inner wear and leisure wear, is set to expand its capacity by 22 per cent from the existing 109 million units to 133 million units a year by end of December 2012. The company is spending around Rs 30 crore for this expansion.

Page Industries, which has been associated with ‘Jockey’ brand for nearly two decades in India and has played an important role in bringing in an organised sector perception for innerwear segment, is looking to replicate this success with ‘Speedo’ range of swimwear products in the near future.

Sundar Genomal, MD, Page Industries told Business Standard that ‘Speedo’ is a well-know name in the swim wear and this nascent segment is growing at 25 per cent on a base of Rs 200 crore. “We have started populating the market early this year and the response is encouraging. ‘Jockey’ has been a healthy success for us and we are hoping to replicate the same with ‘Speedo’,” he added.

The company which has revenues of around Rs 700 crore, has license to manufacture and sell ‘Speedo’ range of products in India and it is understood to be in talks with the parent company Speedo in UK to take it to other South Asian countries. Page Industries has license to sell Jockey range of products in Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and has recently added UAE.
