Pantaloons Retail (India) Limited, the flagship company of the Future Group and one of India’s leading fashion retailers, is aiming to expand its presence in Orissa.
“The company is currently in the process of conducting a feasibility study on setting up more outlets in Orissa and the size and format of the planned stores will depend on the outcome of the study”, said Souti Sengupta, sales executive (east) of Pantaloons Retail.
However, he refused to spell out details like investment figure or the number of stores being planned by the retail major in the state.
At present, the company has one Pantaloons lifestyle store spread over an area of 58,000 sq ft in the city apart from two Big Bazaar outlets, the value retail stores.
“Our operations in Bhubaneswar has been realty exciting. We are truly overwhelmed by the response that we have received from our customers in the city and we would like to celebrate our success with them. We will continue to bring the best and the most fashionable apparel and accessories to our customers”, Sanjeev Agrawal, the chief executive officer of Pantaloons said in a company release.
The Pantaloons store in the city has a green card customer base of 30,000 and the figure is expected to touch 50,000 in the next two years, said Jaynarayan Pujapanda, store manager of Pantaloons, Bhubaneswar.
He was speaking at the launch of the anniversary celebration of Pantaloons in Bhubaneswar. As a part of the anniversary celebration, Pantaloons will select five lucky customers who will shop at Pantaloons from October 9-17. These five lucky customers will be given the benefit of free shopping at Pantaloons worth Rs 5,000 apart from being a dinner treat for two in one of the finest hotels in the city.

Pantaloons Retail Limited posted a total income of Rs 5,052.67 crore for the year ended June 30, 2008, a 52 per cent growth over last year. Over 25 per cent of the company’s revenue came from the eastern region.
Pantaloons Retail’s leading formats include Pantaloons, a chain of fashion outlets, Big Bazaar, a hypermarket chain, Food Bazaar, a supermarket chain, and Central, a chain of seamless destination malls and the company has a total retail trading area of 7.9 million sq ft.
