Paramount Airways is in talks with Singapore Airlines and other international airlines to explore the possibility of tie ups to transport their international passengers on the Indian leg of their journey. |
Paramount's managing director M Thiagarajan said talks were on with international airlines and a tie-up was expected to be in place by the end of the month. |
Paramount's talks have begun in the backdrop of two developments. The company has recruited a team of senior management staff from Singapore Airlines and its second aircraft is scheduled to arrive in a month. |
Thiagarajan said that once the second Embraer aircraft was added to its fleet, Paramount would operate 24 flights a day, of which 22 would cover cities in South India. |
Paramount's flight plan would cover five key cities in South India: Chennai, Coimbatore, Kochi, Bangalore and Hyderabad. In addition, the existing round trip between Chennai and New Delhi would continue. |
Paramount has shifted its headquarters from Coimbatore to Chennai as most of its parking slots are in Chennai. The airline has negotiated to get seven parking slots in Chennai and three in Coimbatore. |
Thiagarajan said the airline was looking at building its main hangar in Chennai. |
The load on the aviation industry infrastructure has led to Paramount entering into arrangements with other airlines to share infrastructure. Paramount has an understanding with Spice Jet to share support systems in New Delhi such as coaches. |
In addition, Paramount also has a formal agreement with Air India to use its infrastructure as and when required. |
