Parry Sugar Industry Ltd today said its net profit for the quarter ended March 31, 2011 declined by nearly 22% to Rs 12.5 crore.
The company had reported a net profit of Rs 15.97 crore for the corresponding period of the previous year, it said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
However, the total income of the company in the January-March quarter rose by 12.23% to Rs 141.36 crore as compared to Rs 125.95 crore in the year-ago period.
The total expenditure of the company also increased by almost 6% to Rs 115.36 crore as against Rs 108.88 crore in the same period of the previous year.
The Bangalore-based company is a subsidiary of EID Parry (India) Ltd, with a combined crushing capacity of 5,000 tonnes of cane per day (TCD).
Shares of the company today closed at Rs 134.40 on the BSE, down by 3.24% from its previous close.
