The Chief Financial Officer of Infosys, S D Shibu Lal, today said pricing pressure was expected to continue for a little while unless the environment changed.
Alluding to the macro economic environment, he said "once the environment stabilises, with a lag of two quarters, pricing and demand environment will also stabilise".
Speaking on the sidelines of the meet organised to announce Infosys India Prizes to be given to those who make outstanding contribution to science, he said "there has been no change in deal size. Even though the deal pipeline is pretty strong, decisions are getting slower especially when it comes to discretionary spending".
On financial year 2009-10, he said, "The environment is going to be tough. It will continue to be challenging".
On wage increment for its employees,he said right now there was not much expectation. In April the employees typically are given increment. In 2008-09 offshore employees received a pay hike of 14 to 15 per cent while its onsite employees received four to five per cent hike.
"This year, it will be lower, maybe single digit", he said.
The IT major also confirmed it was actively pursuing acquistions, but did not elaborate.
On pursuing clients of scam-hit Satyam, he said, "We are not actively pursuing Satyam clients. Yes, some of them have approached us and we have received some proposals for transition", he said. However, nothing had materialised, he said.
