Paytm, GSHHDC sign EOI

Leading mobile marketplace Paytm and Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Development Corporation (GSHHDC) have signed an expression of interest (EOI) for showcasing the latter's handicrafts and handloom of the state via its marketplace.

As per the EOI, a brand store by the name of 'Garvi Gurjari' would be established on the Paytm marketplace for indigenous craftsmen and retailers of Gujarat to leverage the large country-wide customer base of Paytm and drive their business beyond their immediate geographical boundary.

Speaking about the EOI, DK Sharma, Managing Director of GSHHDC said, "We are happy to tie up with Paytm through the 'Garvi Gurjari' brand store. Our objective is to showcase the best of the state of Gujarat to the world. Through the association, we will not only be providing a monumental advantage to our smaller merchants and artisans but will also be offering access to buyers across the nation to the unique crafts that are only found in our state."

A well-known brand name in handloom and handicrafts, the 'Garvi Gurjari' store on the Paytm marketplace will sell handloom and handicraft products of Gujarat like patola, mashroo, tie and dye, tangaliya etc. and printworks like Warli, Matani Pacchedi, Rogan etc. among other handlooms and handicrafts made by artisans affiliated with GSHHDC.

Meanwhile, commenting on the tie-up, Param Shah, Head, FICCI Gujarat State Council, said, "Gurjari 2015 has a provided a platform for many strategic tie-ups with GSHHDC. Paytm has a strong presence in the e-retailing sector, and their association with Gujarat State Handloom and Handicrafts Corporation Ltd (GSHHDC) will help bring the handloom and handicraft products of Gujarat to a larger market. This is beneficial for the artisans as their products can reach all Paytm users. We, at FICCI, are pleased to facilitate this as part of Gurjari 2015."
