PBG International Pvt Ltd has raised the quantum of investment in the Borgaon Food Park near Chhindwara. The company, which had earlier planned to invest Rs 2 crore in rolling flour mills, is also planning to invest in a 'Frozen Peas' unit. |
"The Delhi-based company has expanded the quantum of investment and is planning to set up a rice- and wheat-processing unit in the Borgaon Food Park. The company has also started constructing its 'Frozen Peas' unit in the park and it is expected to be completed by early next year. Earlier, the company has planned to invest Rs 2 crore, which has now gone up to Rs 10 crore," a government source told Business Standard. |

A few other companies are also expected to start production next year. Northern India's leading biscuit-maker, manufacturing under the brand name of 'Priya Gold', Surya Fresh Food & Agro Ltd will enter into fruit processing and biscuits by February-March next year with an investment of Rs 10 crore. Imperial Food will process pickle, jam, sauce, squash, fruit juice cordials, etc. |

Jaipur-based companies, namely Flora Foods and JVS Foods will process foods and cereals. "Both the firms have been issued letters of intent and allotted land in the park," the source added. |

Another local company Lokpriya Masale has almost completed its unit for processing and packaging of spices with an investment of Rs 7-10 lakh, according to the government source. |

PBG is expected to generate employment for 50 people, while PBG and Surya together will generate approximately 200 jobs in the Food Park. |

The Borgaon Food Park has been set up with an investment of Rs 8.44 crore, of which Rs 4 crore is the Centre's grant. The park has cold storage and milk-chilling facilities. |

The MP government is expecting Rs 50-100 crore investment in these parks, to take place on 428 acres. The state government has already received Centre's grant of Rs 17.1 crore for the parks. |

There are six food parks in Madhya Pradesh, but barring the Borgaon Food Park, others have failed to pick up despite necessary infrastructure created and sops announced in the Industrial Promotion Policy 2004. |
