Indian Hotels, the hospitality major from the Tata stable, is going to set up three budget hotels in the state, West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya said in Kolkata on Saturday. |
Speaking at the inauguration of 'The Senator', a hotel set up by the P C Chandra Group comprising chemical and jewellery companies, the chief minister said Indian Hotels would set up three no-frills hotels in Kolkata, Siliguri and Haldia. |

The Rs 300 crore P C Chandra Group has also planning to set up hotels in district headquarters in the state. |

The Senator, a business hotel, has 60 rooms. Group director A K Chanda informed that it has invested Rs 20 crore on the hotel. |

"Till recently, there were not enough hotels in Kolkata. But the situation has changed with two five star properties coming up in last three-four years. There are also few more lined up in district towns as well as in Kolkata," Bhattacharya said at the inaugural function in the presence of the city's mayor Subrata Mukherjee. |

Indian Hotels decided to take a plunge in the budget hotel category through a subsidiary. Industry expects proliferation of such category of hotels from various chains in coming few years in the country. These hotels are generally targeted at mid-level executives, small businessmen, traders and budget travellers. |

The Tata group has promised more investments in West Bengal. It has announced setting up of a hospital in the line of Tata Memorial in Mumbai. |
