Personal Creations Pvt Ltd (PCPL), a 100 per cent export-oriented offshoot of textile company Personal Creations, has drawn up an expansion plan worth Rs 100 crore. With the expansion in place, the company expects to achieve a turnover of Rs 200 crore within the next two years. |
The company, which will start operating in the first week of September, has been set up with an investment of Rs 23 crore, and, according to its promoters, is India's only composite manufacturer of seamless garments. |
"Seamless garments are primarily used in innerwear but we have the technology to produce large-scale outwear garments as well. Infact we will concentrate on ready-to-wear garments itself,"said Lalit Malick, managing director, PCPL. |
At present, the company has 13 machines at its Manesar plant with a capacity to produce up to 6,000 pieces of garment a day. The Rs 100-crore investment will be used to procure about 100 more machines which will enable the company to produce up to 60,000 pieces a day. The capital will be generated in a phased manner entirely through internal accruals. |
"Though we have not started operations yet, we are already getting positive feedback from brands all around the world. This has emboldened us in undertaking this expansion,"Malick said. |
The company is in negotiations for a tie-up with sports major Cosco, Sara Lee and Giorgio Armani. "Our office in Spain is working overtime but most of the offers are for innerwear production. We are treading cautiously as we see a bigger and better market in outerwear," Malick added. |
The company is eyeing markets in the US, Europe and Australia, where it has a tie-up with Tree of Life. While there are no companies in India producing innerwear, PCPL faces competition from Israel, which produces 80 per cent of the requirements of brands like Gap and Nike. |
Malick believes that his company will gain from ready availability of cotton, which will enable him to produce cost-competitive garments. "In two years we want to be the largest producer in Asia. Within the next two months the verdict will be out and if all goes well we might go in for more expansions," Malick added. |
