PepsiCo India appoints new CEOs for beverages, foods biz

Global beverages and snacks major PepsiCo today announced changes in its top level management in India with appointments of Praveen Someshwar and Gautham Mukkavilli as chief executives for its foods and beverages verticals, respectively.

"Praveen Someshwar, currently CEO, India Beverages, moves as CEO, India Foods and Gautham Mukkavilli, currently based in Dubai as Senior Vice President, Global Nutrition Group [GNG], PepsiCo Asia, West Asia and Africa returns to India as CEO, India Beverages," the company said in a statement.

Both Praveen and Gautham will be based out of PepsiCo India's Gurgaon headquarters and report directly to PepsiCo India Region Chairman Manu Anand, it added.

"These appointments provide important new leadership experiences for two of our most valued senior executives and reflect our strong commitment to developing talent from within PepsiCo," PepsiCo India Region Chairman Manu Anand said.

The company said all changes would be effective from June 1, 2012.

"We are announcing them today in order to allow ample time for transition, while ensuring that we remain 100% focused on achieving our 2012 business plans," Anand said.

In his new role, Someshwar would lead PepsiCo India's range of food brands, including Kurkure, Lay's, Uncle Chipps and Quaker along with the traditional snacks business under brand Lehar, it said.

He will also lead the India Power of One (PO1) Council with responsibility to drive collaboration across the food and beverage businesses, it added.

On the other hand, Gautham would now lead PepsiCo India's beverage brands including Pepsi, 7UP, Mirinda, Slice, Aquafina and Gatorade.

"Gautham is well suited for his new role given that his rich and diverse career at PepsiCo began in the India Beverage business 20 years ago," Anand said.

Last month PepsiCo India Foods CEO Varun Berry had resigned from the company.
